Political confusion

People, at least it seems, have become accustomed to transparency and, above all, clarity regarding our everyday life circumstances. We want to know clearly which country we live in, what the state structure is, who the leaders are and also which organizations we are members of and what this means for us.

However, these clear parameters of our lives are slowly becoming blurred and confusion is also creating in our heads. Most of the countries of the European Union are in the military-defense pact we call NATO. They are supposed to be threatened at our external borders and they are supposed to feel safe within the military-defense pact.

This is confirmed by the very picture or map of NATO members.
And we certainly find the now current Greenland and the formerly current Canada on the map of NATO members. As such, they are also supposed to be safe members, as they are supposed to be protected by Article 5 of the treaty, which is supposed to guarantee the slogan: "An attack on one NATO member is an attack on the NATO military-defense alliance", which also includes the United States of America (USA).

However, when we hear about a threatened military intervention in a NATO member by another NATO member or the annexation of one NATO country to another NATO country, the image of the military-defense function against other non-members begins to crumble. The military-defense alliance actually becomes a threat to the sovereignty and independence of individual countries within the military-defense pact and/or an opportunity to threaten other members, rather than a common defense against foreign enemies or non-members of the military-defense alliance.

Perhaps the political alliance fog is even transforming into a clear picture of the threat within the joint military-defense pact or alliance itself, and is transforming into a looming threat of domination and subordination. And so the question arises again, who is our ally and who actually threatens us, or is the enemy, and encourages us to engage in a general debate about the usefulness of membership in an alliance or pact.
